USAFA 2025 Graduation
Andrea Le, 2025
Digital Art
Artist Statement
This digital image signifies the movement of cadets to active duty female officers. The significance of the setting and uniforms shows how we all come from different places but end up wearing the same thing in the same place. It also goes to show the great deal of lineage that comes with the setting and the uniform we wear. The women that came before us may wore the same sash and sabre during their time at the academy. We also see that in the photos of the female cadets walking away we see them walking away from this place we called home for the 4 years at the Air Force Academy. Deeper diving into the significance of gradation on another note, almost everyone is eager to walk away from the day to day struggles and discipline the academy enforces on their cadets but we fail to notice how we may all never be in the same place all together ever again. Something we are so eager to leave comes with a cost and left me thinking how important it is to cherish the moments we had together before graduation.
