Artist Statement
To my Sisters: Created to commemorate fifty years of women at the United States Air Force Academy, Ascendant honors those women who rose, served, and soared. Our history—stitched together in fabric and symbolism—representint faith, flight, and the enduring ascent of women who have shaped the Academy’s legacy. Each thread celebrates resilience, unity, and the unyielding pursuit of excellence that defines the Long Blue Line.
About the Artist
Laurel is a mother and wife. A sister and daughter. A 2003 graduate of USAFA, a nurse, an AF Reservist, a small business owner, and so many other things. Quilting is a hobby for "free time."
