Julia Graves, 1982

Textile/Fiber art

40 H x 25 W

Artist Statement
Created in response to a call for entry for an exhibit on discrimination – ongoing or overcome. I wrote about the discrimination I felt as a member of the 3rd class of women at USAFA and some of the many achievements women graduates have made, overcoming that discrimination.

Artist Bio

Julia Graves had a career in the Air Force, followed by consulting with KPMG/BearingPoint and capping it off with government service with the Department of Treasury. Along the way she delved into the art of quilting and now is a professional quilter - teaching, longarming and creating custom commission quilts. She has been an Artist in Residence with Empty Spools at Asilomar California and loves color interactions.
